Changes in connecting to HUJI

About the change Registering & connecting The connection Password

The change

The current method for connecting from home to Hebrew University Network requires the user to have an email account, e.g. MD,PLUTO,VMS,CC,POB,AGRI email account. The University authorities decided to separate email accounts from home connections. We are introducing a new system in which connecting from home is independent of having an email account. Having an email account on a mail server will not mean that you can automatically connect to HUJI from home.

The new method will be based on the various rights that students and staff were granted. You may check your connection rights at the site: http://status.huji.ac.il (note - the site can be accessed only from HUJI's network).

The new system requires a new username and password for the connection, which will be used instead of your existing username and password ( the existing username and password will still be required for accessing your email ). To obtain a new username/password please access the registration site at: http://rap.huji.ac.il (note - the site can be accessed only from HUJI's network). Account registration for connection services will be needed and you will not be able to connect without it.

NOTE: CS users don't need to register.

The change will be implemented gradually according to your department and mail server.

Changing your dialer - guides

The old method for connecting to HUJI required an email account on one of the servers, such as Pluto, MD, CC, AGRI, VMS, POB.
The authentication format while connecting was: username%server.
Both username and password were taken from the email account.

In the new system connecting from home is independent of having an email account, and the authentication format changes to: username%ra (or username%ra@huji for ADSL connection).
Both username and password are provided via the connection registration site.

NOTE: CS users don't need to change their dialer.

After registration, follow our instructions to change your existing connection to HUJI:
