vpnclient <-> vpn3k.huji.ac.il UDP 500
vpnclient <-> vpn3k.huji.ac.il Protocol 50 (ESP)

If NAT enabled:
vpnclient <-> vpn3k.huji.ac.il UDP 500

Problems in authentication

Error in authentication

Type your ID number/username and OTP password:

  • The ID number should match the one in the student's payment book or in the staff's pay slip. If you wish to use a username instead, type the username you received upon OTP registration or RAP registration.
  • Type your OTP password: type first the Activation code obtained during the card activation, and then (no spaces) the generated password that appears on the card's display.

    For more info about using an OTP card: /services/internet/otp/otpcard_en.shtml#use

Slow Internet connection

If your Internet connection is slow or unstable, it might cause authentication error as a result of time out. Check your Internet connection.

Problems after authentication

At present VPN Client is incompatible with cables connection and with ADSL Alcatel Speed Touch modem (PPTP) in Israel.
You can use the Web VPN service instead.

Frequent disconnections in WinXP SP2

If you are running VPNClient on WinXP SP2 and are experiencing frequent disconnections, download and run the utility vpnrule.exe from our site. The utility will open up the needed ports in Windows firewall.

Losing connection

Once you've logged in, every new URL that opens will begin with: https://webvpn.huji.ac.il/http/0/
If a new window opens without it, it's a sign you've lost connection to the VPN service.

Copy the address you wish to connect to and paste it to to the WebVPN window under: Enter Web Address (URL)

Proxy settings

If you are connected successfully and you can't reach sites with your browser (The problem repeats itself especially when connected behind a router) - try to change your proxy settings according to our guides.
