MATLAB R2018b Network License- Installation Guide for Linux

NOTES:

  • MATLAB installation requires typically hard drive space of 4000 to 6000MB
  • Supported Systems: Ubunto 14.04 LTS, 16.04 LTS and 18.4, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.7 and above and 7.3 and above, SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop15 and 12 (sp2 and above), Debian 8.x
  • , 9.x
  • 32 bit systems are not supported
  • File Installation Key (FIK) and mathlic.dat files are compressed together with two iso installation files.
  • The network license installation is free of charge but requires your computer to be connected to the huji network
Step

 

  • Download installation file R2018b_glnxa64.iso and mount it.

Step

 

  • Open a Terminal.
  • Enter the following commands:
    • sudo mkdir /opt/matlab
    • sudo cp /media/user
    • /matlab2018_lnx/mathlic.dat /opt/matlab where user is your linux username.

  • Mount file R2018b_glnxa64_dvd1.iso.
  • From the terminal you opened in step 2.
    Enter the the following command:
    • sudo /media/user/MATHWORKS_R2018B/install where user is your linux username

  • Mark Use a File Installation Key.

  • Click Next

  • Mark Yes.

  • Click Next.

Step

 

  • Mark I have the File Installation Key for my license.

  • Insert the file installation key number found in the iso file you mounted.
  • Click Next.

  • Enter the installation folder. It should be /opt/matlab .

  • Click Next

 


Step

  • Choose products you wish to install.
  • Click Next



 


Step

  • Enter the path of the license file, either manually or by clicking Browse.

  • Click Next



 


Step

 

  • Mark Create symobolic links to MATLAB scripts In:.
  • Enter the path  /usr/local/bin .
  • Click Next.

Step

 

  • Click Install.

Step

 

  • In the middle of your installation you will receive a message to eject dvd1.

  • Unmount MATHWORKS_R2018b

  • Mount file R2018b_glnxa64_dvd2.iso from the iso file that you downloaded.

  • Click OK.

Step

 

  • Click Next.

Step

 

  • Click Finish.

  • Launch MATLAB by typing matlab in a terminal window.
