Mathematica 10 Standalone
Installation guide for Linux

 

Insert the installation CD. Begin the installation and follow the instructions.


Step 1

# mkdir /opt/mathematica
# mkdir /opt/mathematica/10.0
# cd /media/Mathematica/Unix/Installer
# ./MathInstaller

 

  • Create the directory /opt/mathematica

  • Create the sub directory 10.0

  • Go to the installation folder on the CD: media/Mathematica/Unix/Installer using the cd command. Note that in some Linux distributions, there might be another folder between media and Mathematica.
  • Launch the installation using /MathInstaller

Enter the installation directory, or press ENTER to select
/usr/local/Wolfram/Mathematica/10.0:
> /opt/Mathematica/10.0

 

  • Type in the following folder: /opt/Mathematica/10.0 and press ENTER

 


Step 3

Beagle is a Linux desktop-independent service which transparently and
unobtrusively keeps track of your data and provides searching and indexing
capabilities. Would you like the installer to add Mathematica Notebooks to
the Beagle search service (y/n)?
> y

 

  • Type y and press ENTER

 


Step 4

Type the directory path in which the Wolfram Mathematica script(s) will be
created, or press ENTER to select /usr/local/bin:
>

 

  • Press ENTER

  • Next, type Mathematica in the console and press ENTER

Step 5

 

  • Type in your activation key
  •  

 



Step 6

  • Check the box next to I accept the terms of this agreement

  • Click OK
