Wireless Connection - Instructions for eduroam (802.1x) - Windows 7

Notes

alert Authentication account - authentication is with a HUJI connection account: username@huji.ac.il.
If you havn't got an account, register at : http://rap.huji.ac.il. You can access it from the HUJI-guest wireless network.


What is Eduroam?

Eduroam allows students, researchers and staff to connect to the Internet via wireless connection across campus and when visiting other participating institutions. Click here for the eduroam website.


Configure the Wireless Network
Step

     

  • Click on the Start-Menu

  • Click on Control Panel

Step

  • Click on View network status and tasks.

  • On the left-side of the window, Click on Manage Wireless Network.
  •  


Step

 

  • Click on Add.

Step

 

  • Click on Manually create a network profile


Step

 

  • Type in Network name (SSID): eduroam

  • Choose WPA2-Enterprise under Security type

  • Choose AES under Encryption type

  • Unmark the option: Start this connection automatically

  • Click Next

 


Step

 

  • Click Change connection settings


Step

 

  • Click on the tab: Security

  • Click on Settings


Step


  • Mark Connect to these servers:

  • Type control.huji.ac.il

  • Scroll the list of Trusted Root Certificatation Authorities

  • Mark: DigiCert Assured ID Root CA

  • Click: Configure...

Step

  • Uncheck the option: Automatically use my Windows logon name...

  • Click OK in this window and on the following one.

Step

 

  • Click on the Close button

Step

  • Click on Additional information is needed to connect eduroam.

Step

  • Type your username@huji.ac.il

  • Type your password
    Note: an OTP password is unusable

  • Click OK

 


Connecting

Step

     

  • Click on the Start-Menu

  • Click on Control Panel

Step

  • Click on View network status and tasks

Step


  • Click Connect or disconnect

Step


  • Choose the network: eduroam

  • Click Connect

Step

  • If needed, Click on Additional information is needed to connect eduroam.

Step

  • Type your username@huji.ac.il

  • Type your password
    Note: an OTP password is unusable

  • Click OK

 


Disconnect
Step

     

  • Click on the Start-Menu

  • Click on Control Panel

Step

  • Click on View network status and tasks

Step


  • Click Connect or disconnect

Step

 

  • Choose the network: eduroam

  • Click Disconnect
