TANGO - guide for Safari

Notes:
  • You need to register for a HUJI connection account. If you haven't done so yet,
    connect to our registration site - http://rap.huji.ac.il.

  • CS users don't need to register, but need to use their OTP password.

Check for updates


Step

  • Go to the Apple and choose Software Update...

Step

Update your system software to 10.3.9/10.4.6:

  • Mark and install Mac OS X Update, if it appears on the list.

Step

Update your Java software if needed:

  • Go again to Software Update...
  • Check updates of J2SE...

Connecting to Tango

Step

  • Load Safari

  • Type Tango's address: https://tango.huji.ac.il.

Step

 

  • Click Continue.

Step

  • User name: Type the username of your HUJI connection account: user%ra
  • Password: Type your ra password, or an OTP password. ra password will enable you full mail and browsing. OTP password will enable full network services.

    NOTE to cs users:
    Type user:otp%tcs and use your OTP password.

  • Click Sign In

Step

You've reached Tango VPN's portal.

  • Click Network Applications. Click Connect

NOTE: Use the Web option ONLY if you work with Windows98 or with an uncompatible Mac version, which do not support the Network mode.


Network Applications - usage

  • The SSL Network Extender will automatically appear.
  • Wait till the status changes to Connected (it might take a while).
  • Now you can open your mail client and send and recieve mail.
  • Open a new window and browse as if you are in HUJI's network.
  • Click Disconnect when ending your session.

NOTE: You will lose connection with your local network resources, such as local network printers and file sharing.


Web - usage

Use the connectra navigation bar for the following:

Returns you to the portal home page. If you need to type a new web address - you should click home, and type the address over there.
Enables you to add the current web page to your web favorites.
