TANGO - guide for Windows Internet Explorer


Notes:
  • You need to register for a HUJI connection account. If you haven't done so yet,
    connect to our registration site - http://rap.huji.ac.il.

  • CS users don't need to register, but need to use their OTP password.

Step

  • Load Internet Explorer.
  • [Note to users of Windows 2000 and above: Log-in to the computer as a user with administrator rights]
  • Type Tango's address: https://tango.huji.ac.il.

  • Click OK

Step

  • Right click on the Information bar (follow the red arrow) on the text: This site might require the following ActiveX control...

  • Choose: Install ActiveX Control...

  • Click Install

Step

  • Mark: Save this confirmation for future use. Click Yes.

  • Tango will attempt now to scan your computer for harmfull software. If the scan is stuck and you don't get to one of the next 2 steps - read our troubleshooting.

Step

In case your computer has potential security problems (No updated antivirus, viruses, spyware, warms, etc.), you should attempt to fix the detected problems :

Install/update your antivirus if you received a warning. Updates for Symantec and McaFee can be downloaded from our site.

• Clean your computer from viruses - instructions

•Check your PC for spyware: instructions.

• Return to the window and click Scan Again.


Step

  • User name: Type the username of your HUJI connection account: user%ra
  • Password: Type your ra password, or an OTP password. ra password will enable you full mail and browsing. OTP password will enable full network services.

    NOTE to cs users:
    Type user:otp%tcs and use your OTP password.

  • Click Sign In

Step

You've reached Tango VPN's portal.

• Click Connect under Network Applications and click yes/ok whenever required.

Note: Use the Web option ONLY if your system does not support the Network mode (Window 98 and some Mac os X versions).


Step

  • The SSL Network Extender will automatically appear.
  • Wait till the status changes to Connected.
  • Open a new window in your browser, or open your mail client and continue working as if you are in HUJI's network.
  • Click Disconnect when ending your session.

NOTE: You will lose connection with your local network resources, such as local network printers and file sharing.
