Cables Connection (PPTP/LPTP) with Windows 7-8

Building the VPN Connection

Step

Click Next

     

  • Click on the Start-Menu

  • Click on Control Panel

  • In windows 8 press search and enter Control Panel



Step

Click Next

 

  • Click on View network status and tasks.

Step

 

  • Click on Set up a new connection or network .

Step

Choose Connect to the network at my workplace

 

  • Choose Connect to a workplace

  • Click Next.

Step

Choose Virtual Privete Network connection

 

  • Click Use my Internet connection (VPN).

Step

Choose Virtual Privete Network connection

 

  • Type Internet address: 132.64.10.2

  • Note: if connection has failed, repeat steps and try 132.64.10.4

  • Type Destination name, such as:HUJI Cables

  • Mark Don't connect now; just set it up so I can connect later

  • Click Next.

Step

Type HUJI-adsl

 

  • In the User name field type your username%ra

  • In the password field type
    your password

  • Mark Remember this password

  • Click Create

Step

Choose Do not dial the initial connection

 

  • Click Close

Step


  • Back on the Network and Sharing Center, Click on Change adapter settings

Step

Mark Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop

 

  • Double click HUJI Cables


Step

Click Properties

 

  • The following screen should appear (If it doesn't, double click the icon of your connection).

  • Click Properties

Step

 

  • Click the Security tab.

  • Choose the option: Optional encryption (connect even if no encryption)

  • Choose the Allow these protocols option

  • Mark the Unencrypted password (PAP) option.
  • Click the tab: Networking.

Step

 

  • Click Yes


Step



  • Unmark the option: File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks.
  • Click OK


Step Fill in your username and password

 

  • Click Connect

Ending the Cables connection

Click Disconnect to terminate the connection.

 

  • When the Cables connection is no longer needed you may disconnect by double clicking on the connection icon

  • Click on Disconnect
