                            News bulletin #161
                               15-Nov-2000

Today's topics:
- Mailing lists for courses.
- Rehovot modems update.
- ADSL update.
- Mathematica.
- Harman newsletter.

o We can create mailing lists according to course numbers for POB users.
Hence, lecturers who are willing to be in Email contact with their
students are urged to Email us the course number and we'll set the
mailing list. Note that only POB users can be included in such a list.

o Rehovot modems: We have problems with the equipment which crashes
once in a while. A replacement machine (with faster modems) has been
ordered and we expect it to arrive at the beginning of December.

o ADSL update: Bezeq is still holding us from connecting to the ADSL
project. As long as the legal and political issues are not solved they
are not connecting us, thus you cannot connect to the university
directly from the ADSL; in the meantime you have to subscribe with one
of the commercial ISPs and work thru them when using the ADSL.
We have no estimate when the issue is resolved, but we are actively
  working on it.

o From now on, the HU's academic staff can install Mathematica 4 on
their PC/MacIntosh, free of charge. For further details, please

o Harman newsletter: The Harman Science Library is launching a
quarterly newsletter to keep all our readers and visitors up to date
on the rapid changes the library is going through. We will be
updating you on additions, changes, etc. to our databases and
Ejournals, provide details on Instructional sessions and information
on any new feature in our library. Each issue will concentrate on one
of our departments, introduce you to our staff and give you a brief
description of the services in each department.
To subscribe to our Newsletter, send an email message to:
