News bulletin #129
2-December-1998
Today's topics:
- 136 experiment.
o 136 experiment: We are participating in an experiment with Bezeq for
a new service called 136 (or 137 in the future). The idea behind 136
is to use Bezeq's modems to access our systems, while the end user see
it like he/she is dialing into our modems.
The main advantage of this service is that you have both modems (33.6
and 56K) access as well as ISDN at the same number, and the number of
available modems is quite large. The drawback is that this is an
experimental service and you might encounter times when it is down or
malfunctions.
The cost of the service is a local call (from anywhere in the country)
plus 2.5 Agorot per minute. This is charged directly by Bezeq via
your phone bill.
To use it you follow the same steps as you do when connecting to the
university, except from the different phone number: 136680. Note
that this is a temporary number used only for the experiment.
This service is opened to the same users community as our modems.
I.e. if you are allowed to use our modems you are allowed to use this
service; if you are not allowed then you can't use this service.
We would like to get your feedback about this service, as one of our
intentions is to use it in the future as an suplementary service to
our modems, especially for those who live outside Jerusalem.
