                            News bulletin #127
                             8-November-1998

Today's topics:
- News about the dialin system.
- Macintosh dialin change.

o News about the dialin system: Currently we have two main dialin
systems: an analog one on the 6540303 in which about 1/3 of the
modems are deffective, and a digital one on 6210333 which is quite
stable lately. Since the 6540303 is unreliable, the 6210333 is quite
busy due to the better service it provides.
We'll soon (within 1-2 months) remove the older system (6540303) and
expand the digital one (6210333) to include all the lines of the older
system. We'll announce it as it happens.

During this upgrade stage we plan also to replace the modems pool in
Rehovot to a digital one, like the one which is installed in
  Jerusalem.

o Macintosh dialin change: In the past, when we had the older dialin
system, most Macintosh users were defined to use script while dialing
to our modems. This is obsolete now, and although it works it would
be more reliable if you remove the script. The instructions for doing
it are appended bellow, with the courtesy of Rama Fridlander.
