o HUJIVMS software upgrade: On Friday 24/7/1998 HUJIvms will be down
during the morning hours for software upgrades. We estimate it will
take up to 4 hours.

1) Virex Antivirus Software
==========================
New viruses are hitting the Macintosh platform, among them the
AutoStart 9805 Worm, and many strains of the Concept virus (also known
as the Microsoft Macro virus).
As we have previously mentioned, we have a site license with Dr.
Solomon, and the anitvirus is distributed freely to members of the
Hebrew University.
VIREX antivirus (also from Dr. Solomon), which is the only antivirus
that can deal with the AutoStart 9805 Worm, is also distributed by us.

For those users who do not know, our Macintosh group has a home page ,
where a lot of technical information, news and other interesing links
are found.
We update it regularly, and we would be very happy if you visit us, at

3) Macintosh Group - message to users
===================================
We are trying to improve our services constantly. Unfortunately, we
are rarely able to make "housecalls". A program called Timbuktu
enables us to connect to your computer and help you, as if we were
there.
The program costs only $35, and enables us to improve our services to

4) User Requests regarding software package deals
==============================================
Many users have approached us, and requested we organise a "group"
purchase of certain software packages, where a 10 license package
means huge savings.
We have been approached regarding the following software:-
- Photoshop; This package costs more than $1000 per license but if you
buy a 10 user pack, it costs only +/-$2500. This means
approximately $250 per copy.
- Endnotes
- Adobe Acrobat; This would be +/- $99 per copy.

RENEW YOUR BOOKS WITH LIBAGENT
LIBAGENT, a program made available to us by the Technion, will renew
your library books automatically. The program works for any
University library which is networked in the ALEPH system. We
strongly recommend that you take advantage of this service which will
do the following for you:
1. Renew your books automatically each day in any of the University
libraries.
2. Send you an email announcement whenever a book CANNOT be renewed.
3. Send you an email announcement when a book you have requested is
returned to the library and is waiting for you on the HOLD shelf.

o MOP is looking for a system manager: The Authority for Research and
Development is looking for a Student for a part-time (20 hours/week)
job as a system administrator. Job description: technical support of
PC's , windows95 + Microsoft Office products + Access. Maintenance
and development of the Authority website and mail service.
Requirements: Basic hardware knowledge, Basic Unix (Linux), NT, Win95
and Office knowledge, Knowledge of Visual Basic and C is an advantage
but not required. Previous Experience is also an advantage. Job
