News bulletin #119
15-May-1998
Today's topics:
- Explorer 4.01 Hebrew warning.
- ISRAEL.DOMAINS file.
- SMTP problems.
o Explorer 4: installing Explorer 4.01-Hebrew is a risky thing. People
have reported that they had to reinstall all Win-95 from scratch after
they used the "CD from the InternetWorld".
However, other people reported that un-installing the 3.02 Hebrew, and
then installing the Net-version of Explorer 4-Hebrew do the job.
These people also warn that the installation take sometimes more then
40 mins (!!), so do not give up too fast.
This item has been brought with the courtesy of Itzik Yarchi from the
university's WWW group.
o ISRAEL.DOMAINS file: The file GUIDES$:ISRAEL.DOMAINS lists all
registered Israeli domains, so you can use it to search for companies
and organizations you look for. The best method is to use the VMS's
SEARCH command to locate what you need. The file is updated about
once a month.
o SMTP problems: PC users who set their SMTP server to be VMS might
have noticed lately that sometimes they have problems sending outgoing
mail. The problems has been identified and corrected (or at least its
severity has been taken down considerably) today.
