Today's topics:
- HUJI's proxy for WWW.
o Proxy: Due to the high load on Machba's proxies we've created an
experimental proxy for the Hebrew university. The proxy is
available at wwwproxy.huji.ac.il, port 8080. Note that this an
experimental project and might have problems at the initial stages.
We would like to remind you how a proxy works: When you request a
document and it is not at the cache, it is being fetched, thus at
this stage you get the same performance as when there is no proxy
(probably a slow download...). Only when the document is already at
the proxy's cache it is downloaded faster. Hence, at the first few
days you'll experience slow performance until its cache becomes
populated.
